PUMA x First Thursdays

Last week the hot new PUMA Select Store in Bree Street participated in it’s second ever First Thursdays. What? You say?

We all know what Thursday nights are famous for in South Africa, not wanting to utter *that* overused phrase popularized by *that* radio DJ in South Africa, we’ll call it Thirst Thursdays. So yes, South Africans enjoy a bit of a Thursday night razzle, often coupled with a strange feeling the next morning. We admit, wondering how you got that hangover (respect it, do we even need to tell you this by now?), where all your money went and ‘how that picture of you ended up on the internet’ are all by-products of the awesomely unique South African nightlife culture.

Rather than merely accepting this phenomenon, the people of Cape Town have decided, as Capetonians do, to try to perfect it. Leaving behind the excess of the more tasteless elements of a Thursday night bender, the people of First Thursdays have turned to fashion, music, art, shopping and of course a good craft beer or two.

On the first Thursday night of each month, stores and galleries in Cape Town stay open till 9pm, creating a unique playground of places to explore in the city at a time when they would usually be closed.

PUMA Select, our new perfectly placed premium pop up store (try say that 5 times quickly), is thrilled to be an official participant of the First Thursdays movement, here’s why:

  1. You can try on our threads and wear them out immediately.
  2. We got free beer. Read about that here.
  3. After procuring some new sneaks, and drinking a free beer, you can walk, fashionably forward, into the night and check out some of the other awesome stores.

Hola New Gear

It’s always an exciting time in PUMAland when new product drops on the shelves. Have a look at some of the new gear in stores this week.

Disc Tropicalia - The PUMA Disc, part of the Trinomic family, was sought-after for its innovative and comfort-boosting clicks in the 90s.

Mihara pin up - Japanese fashion designer Mihara Yasuhiro gets his kicks by challenging the boundaries of sport and fashion. He’s equally amused by geometry’s proven formulas and the unpredictability in metropolitan cities from Tokyo to Sao Paulo.

Brazil

A lifestle collection celecbrating PUMA's sport heritage. From 1970 to 2014, PUMA connection to football is undenyable.
