Thursday 6 August 6PM - Select Sessions with Boskasie
Boskasie is a Cape Town born and raised singer/songwriter currently residing in Johannesburg. Having grown up in a family full of Jazz music lovers, she is inspired by the nostalgic sounds of Cape Jazz with her mother being a trumpeter and her dad a vocalist in the boys brigade.
 
Her music has been described as following an authentic urban contemporary sound, while others experience it as neo-soul. This unique cross-genre appeal is what makes Boskasie so special - you can’t quite box her. Her music follows an easy, hypnotic feel which takes the listener on a journey of discovery through her lens, which she herself categorises as "eclectic soul". Eclectic melodies coupled with deep soulful lyrics.
 
Friday 7 August 10AM - Select Stories with Sibu Mabena, hosted by Frypan Mfula
Sibu Mabena, founder of Duma Collective with a BA in Political Science and International Relations, is a young creative with extensive experience in Event Production, Sponsorship Acquisition, Performance Direction and Street, and Social Media Marketing. Having worked on several live events shows including South Africa Music Awards, South African Film, and Television Awards, Metro FM Awards, GLO CAF Awards 2015 and 2016, MTV Base Africa Awards 2015 and 2016, Castle Lite Presents J Cole, Axecess Jozi, SAB Conference, South African Sports Awards, and some TV work including the 2017 AFCON TVC, Revlon’s Special Feeling TVC, and MTV Base Lip Sync Battle, her exposure serves as a good creative springboard for a variety of communications platforms from linear and digital to stages and experiential events.
 
Thursday 13 August 6PM - Select Sessions with Zoë Modiga
Zoë Modiga is an artist who represents the present and future of South African music drawing from the roots of African storytelling, Jazz composition and Motown soul but creating a sound entirely her own in order to communicate an evolving African sound without losing its essence.
 
A self produced world class artist; singer, songwriter, performer, bandleader. Through collaboration and creativity at the highest level creating a bold and vibrant transcendent live performance with strong bold visuals, vibrant fashion and world class dance, showing the beauty and simplicity of telling stories in our own languages to reach to the core of a global audience.
 
Zoë Modiga is an artist challenging the status quo and inspiring a new generation, a true representation of excellence.
 
Thursday 20 August 6PM - Select Sessions with Kanyi Mavi
Kanyi Mavi is a fire-spitting emcee from the township Gugulethu, in the mother city, Cape Town who raps in her native tongue, isiXhosa. She entered the scene in 2002 rapping in local open mic sets.
 
In 2013, Kanyi was nominated for Best Lyricist, Best Newcomer and Best Female Awards (which she won) at the South African Hip Hop Awards. Kanyi, along with a number of South African and Swedish artist recorded, released and toured Sweden with a collaboration project called Kwaai- which won 2014 Manifesto Award for Best Rhythm. In 2016, Kanyi Mavi’s single, ‘Andizenzi ft Yakumbe’ was picked up by Hip Hop legend Chuck D’s radio show called, And You Don’t Stop.
 
Thursday 27 August 6PM - Select Sessions with Boity
Award winning actress,TV Host, Entrepreneur & Musician Boitumelo "Boity" Thulo is one of the most recognisable stars in South Africa.
 
Boity entered her career as a recording artist with her debut single “Wuz Dat” featuring Nasty C. The song was nominated for Best Collaboration at the SA Hip Hop Awards where Boity performed and stole the show.
